About
One farm, one grower
Phoenix Garden Yuzu is not a brand that buys fruit. It is a farm that sells what it grows.
The farm in numbers
| Location | ![]() |
|---|---|
| Structure | Single estate, first-generation grower — all fruit from our own groves, graded by the grower |
| Annual production | Around 20 tonnes of yuzu harvested in a typical year; the crop varies from year to year |
| Products | Green Yuzu (August – September), October Yuzu (October), Golden Yuzu (November – late January). A pressed juice is in planning — not yet produced |
| Post-harvest | Green Yuzu and Golden Yuzu receive no post-harvest treatment. October Yuzu is picked green and degreened with ethylene — see Quality & Traceability |

Why the mountains matter
Yuzu is said to develop its aroma slowly, in places where days are warm and nights are cold. Our groves sit in mountain terrain where that temperature swing is a daily fact — the lowest of them at about 180 metres, with an annual average low near 3°C and snow two or three times a winter. Growers here will tell you that mountain fruit carries more scent than fruit from the lowlands.
